Marina Fedorova Brings Blue Dreams to ART021
From November 7th to 10th, 2024, Sputnik Partners will participate in the 12th edition of ART021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair, showcasing the Cosmodreams art project by Marina Fedorova in the MAIN GALLERIES section.
ART021 provides a crucial platform for global and local interaction within the art community, emphasizing the importance of Chinese contemporary art while fostering global connections.
This year Marina Fedorova’s the concept of “Blue Dreams”, a profound artistic exploration rooted in a traditional Chinese proverb: “When you are angry, draw bamboo; when you are happy, draw orchids”. Inspired by the vivid contrast of blue orchids against snow, Fedorova explores themes of natural beauty, resilience, and the interplay between the real and the imagined. The blue orchid, an artificial creation yet a product of nature, becomes central in this exploration, symbolizing endurance and grace in challenging environments. Fedorova’s background in fashion design influences her work, as seen in her sculptures that blend human and floral elements, creating figures that convey emotion and narrative through their forms.
Water, in its various states, and the mysterious depths of the ocean are recurring motifs in Fedorova’s work, serving as metaphors for the unknown and the unexplored. The imagery of whales, inspired by ancient myths and cultural narratives, adds a layer of symbolic depth, representing both power and mystery. The “Girl and the Whale” exhibit serves as a focal point of the project, embodying themes of continuity, purity, and hope.
