Ateliers SP joins Homo Faber in Venice

Ateliers SP is participating in Homo Faber 2024, a celebration of contemporary craftsmanship: Inspiring Objects – Talented Artisans – A Global Experience

Running from September 1 to 30, the third edition of the Homo Faber Biennial, celebrates contemporary craftsmanship through the theme “The Journey of Life” at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice, Italy. Curated by film director and interior architect Luca Guadagnino, along with architect Nicolò Rosmarini, the event will feature the works of more than 400 highly skilled craftspeople from 50 countries, in 10 themed exhibition spaces.

At Homo Faber 2024, Ateliers SP is showcasing “Amphora”, an exquisite turned box crafted from amaranth and ebony by French cabinet maker Frédéric Hamel. This piece exemplifies Frédéric’s mastery of woodturning and guilloche. “Amphora” is a testament to his meticulous craftsmanship and innovative approach to traditional techniques.

The Homo Faber Biennial brings together designers and artisans from around the world to highlight the importance of safeguarding craftsmanship and ensuring its transmission to the next generations. Attendees will enjoy exceptional scenography, live artisan demonstrations, and a variety of unique culinary and craft experiences.

In addition to the main event, Homo Faber in Città encourages visitors to explore over 70 artisan workshops throughout Venice. This program provides a rare opportunity to witness the tools, materials, and skills behind contemporary crafts, some reflecting age-old Venetian traditions, and others capturing the spirit of Venice in new ways.
